WC – Producing Biogas

The issue of warming changing human habits in using energy resources. Alternative energy such as solar heat or biogas increasingly popular to replace the energy from carbon compounds that pollute the environment.

In addition to more environmentally friendly, most alternative energy can be managed in a home. Unlike hydroelectric or nuclear which must be operated on a large scale.

Recently, Virginia Gardiner famous designers even make energy production into private affairs. He designed a biogas-producing toilet called Gardiner CH4.

Gardiner said, his work is an offering from the desianer for the preservation of the world. He made this toilet design to complete the thesis in the Master at London’s Royal College Art. Toilet creations can not be created energy directly. He only designed the dirt holding mechanism, so that direct stool neatly in the pocket. Users can take the toilet and then put it in the trash. This waste is then transported to the manufacture of biogas using a truck.

Toilets and the interior is made of carbon compounds that are environmentally friendly. Wrapping bag is also designed in such a way as to keep the loss of methane compounds. Gardiner was now tested a system of integrated waste management in London and Nigeria. Besides toliet, also provided a waste treatment unit for the community.

According to him, human waste produces more energy than animals. Because the stool contains a lot of methane and less carbon and nitrogen. A total of 14 kg of feces can produce 110 liters of methane gas. The amount of methane content is different for each person. Reject the measuring easier, more and smelling feces someone, the more methane content.
Gardiner idea to create the toliet energy generation deserves thumbs up. Unfortunately, about 40% of world population have no toilets and choose defecating in any place.
